DEKOOR | MONA FOMA | LAUNCESTON | MARCH 2024

You got Rooke'd. Join ROOKE in our favourite gym for an immersive experience featuring your favourite ROOKE artists, our invited (extremely talented) friends and a healthy sprinkling of local talent. After the show, explore three levels of all-night club fun (18+) with intimate performance experiences and live DJ's throughout the night.

DEKOOR is an immersive, walkabout experience for adults only. You must be over 18 to attend. You will have the option to explore the gym and discover unique, intimate moments of performance. This performance takes place in a working gym, you will be required to move around the space during the performance. Your experience will be yours alone, you may encounter adult themes, nudity, physical touch, sweating and grunting, loud music, bright lights, offensive language, very tight fitting clothes, direct eye contact from the performers, jaw-dropping skills, and/or extreme ethereal beauty.

On the night you will be given the option to wear a “consenting” token when you scan your ticket. This token will tell performers that you are open to adventures.

If you are wearing this token in a visible place you may be asked if you can be physically touched (respectfully) by the artists, you might be picked up and carried (by a professional), and you may be led away to a small space to experience an intimate and unique performance.

You can change your mind at any time during the night by removing the token, or communicating your change of mind during one of these experiences. Our first aim is for you to have a safe and enjoyable time. You can also pass the token on to someone else at any time during the night.

This workshop focuses on Jake's process as an acrobat and theatre maker. Aiming to combine acrobatic movements into performance contexts. Using his unique explosive acrobatic style Jake is interested in sharing processes that remove self critique that allow for play. This class will use choreographic formulas and games to help students move in creative ways.

This class is aimed at emerging to mid career physical artists. This class requires students to have a strong understanding of the basics of floor acrobatics (comfortable doing forward and backward rolls, cartwheels and handstands).

Jake has 10 years of experience as an acrobat and coach. He has worked globally with some of the leading names in circus, including Circus Oz, the Flying Fruit Flies, CIRCA, Dislocate, and recently, ROOKE.
